Counseling helps you
become more of who you want to be. Counseling helps you learn new ways of feeling
and thinking and performing your relationships. Counseling helps you grow!
This
can be challenging. Old habits can hold you back. These may be old emotional habits,
such as anxiety or depression or shyness. And these may be old relationship habits
that are not productive for you or for those around you. Whatever holds you back,
your counselor is trained to help you go beyond those obstacles and grow into
the person you want to be.
Who goes for counseling?
People
from all walks of life come to counseling for help in life change and personal
growth. From CEOs to college students, from homemakers to dentists, from artists
to engineers, from mechanics to designers, people from every lifestyle draw on
our expertise in how to create new life choices. There is one characteristic that
all our clients share. They have all decided to go for more in their lives.
How
long does counseling last?
That depends on you. Your
counselor can give input, but the decision is yours. We are here to help in setting
and reaching life goals, in developing new ways to perform your life. How long
that takes will depend on many factors including regular attendance and taking
responsibility for your progress in counseling. Each person's situation is unique.
Your counselor will speak with you often about progress toward goals. Some people
come for help with a very specific and short-term situation. Others come for help
in changing long-standing habits and putting new ones into place. In either case,
a lot of your progress will depend on making your counseling a high priority.
What
else should I know?
Personal counseling usually begins
with individual or couple appointments. After a few of those meetings, you may
be eligible for a move into group counseling. Group counseling can be a very effective
and affordable approach for personal growth. Group counseling allows for weekly
practice of relationship skills, and relationship skills are key to your success
in every area of life.
Whether you participate in group
or couple or individual services, your counselor will have years of training and
experience to bring to your work together. Your counselor is a specialist in helping
you grow new ways of performing your personal and/or professional life. You may
