Frequently Asked Questions

How do you help?

I help you see who you are and who you can become.  I help by always expecting you to succeed. I help by asking challenging questions and being deeply interested in your reply. I help by gently insisting that you look honestly at what is needed to make your future grow.  I help by expecting serious work and being a skillful partner. I help with my experience, years of success, and caring for who you can become.

What does life/work coaching address?

Coaching can address whatever you need help with concerning your work life. You may want to discover work that is nourishing for you and helpful to others. Or you may have a work goal and want new approaches to the job search.  You may want support in establishing your own enterprise. Or you may want to be more successful in your current workplace.  I can help in whatever way would be most useful for developing your work life. I have helped many people in all of these ways over the years!

Am I a good candidate for coaching with you?

Yes, if you want help that grows who you are and deepens how your work will matter.  And yes, if you want help that draws upon your values and always respects who you uniquely are. Yes, if you want help that is affordable and accessible. And yes, if you are ready to make your life/work a top priority and be an active partner with me in our work.

How does telecoaching work?

We meet by phone from wherever you are. Telecoaching services are rapidly growing due to convenience. Telecoaching can continue on schedule regardless of travel, traffic, or weather.  A regular weekly meeting is one strong predictor of success for your work. Telecoaching helps that happen.

How does life/work discovery look?

I offer a structured program that can flex where needed. We explore your heartfelt values, your preferred strengths, your life/work priorities, your motivating interests. We expand your knowledge of occupations including workforce trends. We identify resources you have and those you may need.  We create movement around any obstacles. Homework promotes your progress and involvement. With creativity and consistency, we discover new life/work choices that express who you are and who you want to be.

Do you offer testing?

I have provided career testing to many clients over the years. Based on overall client response, I have narrowed down to the Strong Career Interest Inventory. The Strong is often called the Cadillac of career interest instruments. The version I prefer generates fifteen pages which suggest broad fields and specific occupations that could be appealing to you.

My clients and I learn most of what we need in different ways than through testing.  It is the nature of tests to limit choices. I prefer methods which are open-ended. The Strong, however, is such an excellent instrument that I continue to use it whenever my client and I decide it could be helpful. It can be an interesting and useful step in a career exploration program.

What do your services cost?

Your total cost will depend on the process you choose.  So until we speak I don’t have a way to offer a dependable figure. Once I can do so, I am confident that if you compare costs, you will find my charges fair and reasonable. I love my work and I love offering my services to clients who want to work with me and do well. For that reason, if you are experiencing financial hardship, I will talk with you about a modified fee. If you are fortunate to have reasonable resources, then you will still find my charges to be very fair.

How long is the process?

Life/work discovery runs from six to eight meetings. Other coaching processes will vary in duration depending on your focus. We discuss that in your complimentary initial meeting. You play an active role in determining both quality and duration of our work. To make your coaching a priority is key!
